Wird in der Literatur gegessen und getrunken, gehen die Tischmanieren meist verloren. Denn zwischen Erbsensuppe, Messerbänkchen und dem fünften Wein im Flieger zeigt sich, wer wir wirklich sind: nicht das feinste Tier auf Gottes Erden, sondern mampfend, grölend und hinterhältig. Hier wird der Esstisch zum Ort der Katastrophe, die Kochinsel zum Mordwerkzeug, und die Weinkarte führt zum Ehebruch. Was braucht man, wenn die Gäste auch nach drei Getränken nicht in Schwätzchenstimmung kommen? Wie viel Senf kann ein Mensch essen? Und wie verhält man sich, wenn man unversehens mit einem Diktator Kaffee trinkt? Antworten liefern u. a. Oskar Maria Graf, Doris Dörrie und Thomas Bernhard. Nina Kunzendorf und Samuel Finzi laden mit Psychotherapeut und Autor Jakob Hein zu einem Besuch an den Tafeln der Literatur, an denen Würste besungen und Stuhlgänge gezählt und Foodtrends beklagt werden – aber nie nur gegessen wird.
